KAYSVILLE KINKS - #87 IN SERIES - MARCH 1898
  • Someone once said "The boy who does not occasionally change his necktie must know his girl will surely change him." Now the fate of the fellow who never buys his girl any jewelry is precisely the same as that of the old necktie. Ladies are easily captivated by anything that glitters and there is nothing that glitters more than jewelry. There is no better place to get it than H. J. Sheffield Store as he just got in a nice stock. You can get finger rings from 50 cents up to $50. He also has a fine assortment of neckties.
  • Kaysville Society - The "Happy Time Club" had a select ball at Williams Hall last evening. About 50 couples were in attendance. Arrangements were made by R. W. Barnes, John W. Thornley and Fred B. Williams.
  • Judge Beazer is excitedly happy over the arrival of a young judge in his family when his wife gave birth last week.
  • William Flint and John L. Guthrie have decided upon starting a distillery here. A site has been secured near one of the canyon streams. Work has begun on a suitable building. Everything is to be in readiness by the 1st of May. The city council has passed an ordinance fixing the license to manufacture liquor at $400 per year. (more info about the Kaysville Distillery will follow)
  • Mary L. Taylor is suing in Judge Rolapp's court for a divorce from Owen E. Taylor on the grounds of desertion and failure to provide. Plaintiff also asks for a $25 per month alimony and to be granted back her maiden name Burton.
  • The funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Sarah A. Layton were held today at the Kaysville meeting house. It was largely attended.
