KAYSVILLE KINKS - #81 IN SERIES - SEPTEMBER 1897
  • Fire was discovered at 5 o' clock this afternoon in the building at the Kaysville Brick & Tile Co. A strong wind was blowing and as the fire gained considerable headway before it was observed, the building could not be saved. In a very short time it was entirely consumed. The loss was about $1,200, the heaviest to A. H. Bishop who owns 3/4 of the interest in the property. There is no insurance and the cause of the blaze is a mystery. Mr. Bishop says he will at once make arrangements to rebuild.
  • H. J. Sheffield Jr. is gone for 10 days on a pleasure trip to Chicago.
  • The Kaysville Academy has been secured again for the accommodation of higher grades and H. C. Burton will be the principal.
  • A new 2 roomed frame house is being built for Mrs. Hales, a widow woman. Her old log house has seen its best days and it was feared it would not do another winter so a number of men are donating their services to build a new one.
  • The schools started on Monday. Some of the primaries are crowded. One teacher reported to have 80 pupils.
  • Dr. Sumner Gleason, agent for Stock Bros. Nursery of Missouri, expects to put out 200 fruit trees in this place, no two of the same kind or variety, for an experiment next spring.
  • Miss Nora Bonnemort has gone to Ogden where she has a position as stenographer and typoscribe.
  • PHOTO: Nora Celestia Nelson Bonnemort Thornley (1875-1952) daughter of James Nelson and Mary Dunlop. After her father's death her mother remarried John H. Bonnemort. Nora was 3 years old at the time. She married John Watt Thornley in 1901. Nora was a long time member of the Bay View Club and served as President 1922-1924. Kaysville Kinks were originally published on the the Facebook group page, Our Kaysville Story.  Click on the link to join the group page.

Kristine is an amazing lady who loves the town she grew up in, her family, and the color purple.
