KAYSVILLE KINKS - #79 IN SERIES - JULY 1897
  • Lee Taylor had the lucky number at Williams Hall on Monday evening that took the $5 scarf pin and Miss Pearl Layton had the number that called for the dozen cabinet card photos. (Cabinet card popular in the 1890's - photo made on cardstock with imprint of the Photographer and location just below photo)
  • Bert DeShazo was found guilty of stealing a watch from W. Weeks. He was fined $25 by Justice Beazer.
  • Mr. William Allen (Architect) of Kaysville a few days ago wrote: "Your correspondent at Layton must be an awful reckless and unmitigated falsifier. Architect Allen is NOT laying brick on the West Layton Meeting House."
  • James Babb and wife of Atlanta, Georgia, who are numbered among those with the Christian Endeavor people who are in route to California spent Sunday evening with G. F. Patillo. Mrs. Babb is Mr. Patillo's sister.
  • Death of John B. Meredith - He was born in England and spent his early years at sea. He settled in Utah in 1855. He was active in the mercantile business, also a pioneer in molasses production here. In 1883 he retired to Kaysville. He has since devoted his life to psychic and occult researches in which he was much interested in. 4 years ago he became a member of "The Order Of The Maji",(a brotherhood of astrologers, mystics, magicians and wizards), a distinction few people in the West enjoy. He leaves a wife and infant son as well as several sons and daughters by a deceased wife.

On August 1, 2018 Kristine decided to begin a series of excerpts from the newspaper called These excerpts were taken from articles about local happenings/gossip/announcements etc. It tells a story and gives a feel for Kaysville back in the day.
Kaysville Kinks were originally published on the the Facebook group page, Our Kaysville Story.  Click on the link to join the group page.

Kristine is an amazing lady who loves the town she grew up in, her family, and the color purple.
