KAYSVILLE KINKS - #78 - JUNE 1897
  • A horse belonging to G. F. Patillo was stung to death by bees one day this week. He died in the most intense agony not many hours after the bees attacked him. The bees were scraped off and the animal saturated in coal oil, but it couldn't be saved.
  • At Kaysville the celebration of Memorial Day was a grand success. The people gathered at the meeting house at 10 o' clock. The 3/4 mile long procession, headed by the Kaysville Brass Band then began to the cemetery. At the cemetery Sunday School Children sang "America" Honorable John R. Barnes delivered the oration. He paid a high tribute to the heroes of both sides during the Civil War. Decorating the graves was proceeded with. No one was missed.
  • The Kaysville Colt baseball team played with the Farmington Boys on Monday and came off victorious.
  • William A. Barton and Miss Mary Ann Clark were married in the Salt Lake Temple on Thursday May 27 and were royally entertained the following day.
  • J. B. Meredith picked 3 cases of strawberries on the 1st of June and they were nice ones. Heber J. Sheffield has contracted for the entire crop.
  • David Clark and Arthur Butcher have been prospecting in the hills east of here.
  • City councilman Jarman purchased a new baby carriage on Tuesday for the little baby girl that came to his house on the 9th.
