KAYSVILLE KINKS - #76 IN SERIES - APRIL 1897
  • Elder John S. Hyde leaves on his mission for the Eastern States on Saturday Next.
  • "The Kaysville Mercantile Company" filed the Articles of Incorporation with the Secretary of State yesterday. The Capital stock is $5,000 in $10 shares. Levi Taylor Jr; George Swan Jr; Seth E. Jones; E. W. Layton, and Samuel G. Layton are the incorporators.
  • The "Old Folks Party" (for those over 60) was held last Monday. It went off very nicely with over 200 persons in attendance. At noon they assembled and the Kaysville Brass Band played outside as everyone entered the meeting house. Tables were spread with everything that could be desired to minister to their material welfare, and willing waiters were ready to anticipate and supply their every wish. From 2 o' clock to 5 the time was spent listening to a program. Scores of pictures of early settlers of Kaysville who have passed were hanging on the walls. Beautiful plants and flowers enlivened the room and literally buried the speakers stand. John S. Smith had the honor of being the oldest man present age 88 and Mrs. Hannah Simmons the oldest woman age 87. There were also present 4 of the pioneers of 1847 and 1 member of the Mormon Battalion (President Hess) 19 of the guests had been residents in Nauvoo. Two had crossed the plains with the hand cart companies.

On August 1, 2018 Kristine decided to begin a series of excerpts from the newspaper called These excerpts were taken from articles about local happenings/gossip/announcements etc. It tells a story and gives a feel for Kaysville back in the day.
Kaysville Kinks were originally published on the the Facebook group page, Our Kaysville Story.  Click on the link to join the group page.

Kristine is an amazing lady who loves the town she grew up in, her family, and the color purple.
