KAYSVILLE KINKS - #72 IN SERIES - DECEMBER 1896
  • The happy Yuletide was spent very quietly in Kaysville. The merry jingle of sleigh bells which brings its quota of Christmas cheer, was not heard and the weather unreasonableness took the life and spirit out of everything that happened.
  • There were nevertheless, numerous pleasant family parties at which communion with friends love's glow with happiness. Many visitors were in town during the holiday.
  • A pleasant Christmas Ball was given at Williams Hall last evening. It was a success financially and socially.
  • Merchants in Kaysville had a very gratifying Christmas trade judging by the way toys disappeared from the windows of the stores. There were few little stockings that were not visited by Santa Claus.
  • The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Swan Jr., who was so severely burned last week is recovering.
  • Edward Phillips one of the pioneer settlers of this town, died at 7:30p today, aged 85 years. He came to this city in 1849 being the 2nd man on the ground to establish a home. The funeral was held at 11 o' clock at the Kaysville meeting house. There was a very large concourse of people present to pay tribute to his memory. Many visitors from Salt Lake, Ogden and in between were in attendance. The deceased was a very popular man among the people and leaves a lot of friends and a very large family. A great number of carriages followed the remains to the cemetery.

    Kristine Murdock

On August 1, 2018 Kristine decided to begin a series of excerpts from the newspaper called These excerpts were taken from articles about local happenings/gossip/announcements etc. It tells a story and gives a feel for Kaysville back in the day.
Kaysville Kinks were originally published on the the Facebook group page, Our Kaysville Story.  Click on the link to join the group page.

Kristine is an amazing lady who loves the town she grew up in, her family, and the color purple.
