  • KAYSVILLE KINKS #65 IN SERIES - MAY 1896
  • Nathan Reeve is preparing to build a new house this summer.
  • John G.M. Barnes has commenced work on his fine brick residence just back of the Co-op store which will be a great improvement to Locust St.
  • Edward Phillips, who is 84 years old, is quite sick.
  • There is at last a prospect that Kaysville City boundary line dispute may be settled. This matter (separation Layton-Kaysville) has been in question for several years ever since E. P. Ellison filed suit to recover from the city the value of a wagon which was levied upon and sold for taxes. Mr. Ellison says his property was sitting so far from the city he received no protection and no benefits from the municipal government and shouldn't be taxed. The case was tried by Judge Zane and won by Mr. Ellison. It was appealed to the Territorial Supreme Court and the decision of the lower court was confirmed. It was carried to the US Supreme Court where it remained for 3 years before being heard. When action was finally taken the case was thrown out for want of jurisdiction, thus virtually making it a lost case for the city.
  • Last Thursday the 3rd in a series of elocutionary contests for the Demorest Silver Medal was given in the Music Hall under the auspices of the local Women's Christian Temperance Union. the successful competitor for the medal was Mamie Lewis for her recitation of "A Version of Prohibition."

Kaysville Kinks were originally published on the the Facebook group page, Our Kaysville Story.  Click on the link to join the group page.

Kristine is an amazing lady who loves the town she grew up in, her family, and the color purple.
