  • KAYSVILLE KINKS - #63 IN SERIES - MARCH 1896
  • A number of families in Kaysville are seriously infected with black measles. A number of the children are sick nigh unto death. David Gailey lost his 8 year old son from them a few days ago.
  • Mrs. Nichols, the Kaysville Midwife, who has been so dangerously ill for a few weeks is now slowly convalescing.
  • A big crowd of horsemen were out looking for coyotes last Saturday. To see so many out reminds one of the English Fox Hound hunts. The boys say if a coyote can be kept running as fast as it can for 1 mile and then be out of breath and give out but they are cute enough to take it easy as soon as the horse slacks up.
  • Nathan Reeves the newly returned missionary took out a marriage license and was married on Thursday of the same week to one of the young ladies who joined the Kaysville Ward on the previous Sunday. It seems Elder Reeve is determined to demonstrate he believes in the good old book teachings which says: "It is not good for a man to be alone."
  • Elizabeth Geeves Barnes, 2nd wife of Senator John R. Barnes died at the family home yesterday of pneumonia. She was born in England on March 6, 1838 and came to Utah in 1864. She leaves a child, one son.

    Kristine Murdock

On August 1, 2018 Kristine decided to begin a series of excerpts from the newspaper called These excerpts were taken from articles about local happenings/gossip/announcements etc. It tells a story and gives a feel for Kaysville back in the day.
Kaysville Kinks were originally published on the the Facebook group page, Our Kaysville Story.  Click on the link to join the group page.

Kristine is an amazing lady who loves the town she grew up in, her family, and the color purple.
