  • - Thieves are numerous around here this week. Mrs. Thomas Evans had $30 stolen from her trunk, 300 lbs. of flour were taken from the (Christopher) Layton Roller Mills. Henry Ward's sleigh bells disappeared and a farmer had a lot of bacon captured.
  • There is no end to the excitement in mining circles around here. Claims are being located everywhere on the mountains east of Kaysville and Farmington. Those who have claims are looking after them with much alertness. The Rhymney Mining Co. has just been incorporated with a capital stock of $1,000,000. (gold, copper, iron)
  • Alderman George Swan declared the people of Kaysville have one of the finest places to make a reservoir, and they must build it before summer. The water source begins from the mouth of Baer Canyon. Location for the reservoir is about 3/4 miles from town and will hold a volume of water 10 feet deep, 200 feet wide and 700 feet long.
  • The Kaysville Dramatic Club have learned a new play entitled "Social Class" which they will present here on the stage next week.
  • A brother of Mrs. J.H. Larkins arrived here from New York. He will spend a few weeks vacationing. It has been 28 years since they have seen each other.
  • Gaberial Smith was operated on in Ogden by Dr. Rich for a cancer on the side of his neck. It was a delicate operation requiring the laying bare of a portion of the interior jugular vein around which the malignant growth was winding it's deadly tentacles. The patient is reported doing well.

On August 1, 2018 Kristine decided to begin a series of excerpts from the newspaper called These excerpts were taken from articles about local happenings/gossip/announcements etc. It tells a story and gives a feel for Kaysville back in the day.
Kaysville Kinks were originally published on the the Facebook group page, Our Kaysville Story.  Click on the link to join the group page.

Kristine is an amazing lady who loves the town she grew up in, her family, and the color purple.
