History, Culture and Art
We believe that historical and cultural memory have a critical role in the creation and maintenance of community unity. We believe that the Kaysville - Fruit Heights Museum of History and Art can fill that role through its displays, collections, activities and programming events. Education is of paramount importance and our outreach to schools fulfills a valuable service.
Reestablishment of the LeConte Art Gallery is a foremost goal. LeConte Stewart's generous spirit imbues our community with hope for the future and an appreciation of the past. He was an educator who taught his skills both professionally and as a friend and mentor. His skill puts him at the forefront of the state's artists and as a national figure.
“An education without the humanities [is like] living without the benefit of memory, or of imagination. We are, by nature, cultural beings. We are learners. Our cultural environment shapes us. If we fail to understand how it shapes us, we forfeit our freedom and our responsibility to think about what we learn and who we are." - Biddy Martin, Chancellor of University of Wisconsin-Madison (Berrett, 2010)
